Kala Bhairava Pooja at Home
Lord Kalabhairava is the fierce aspect of Lord Shiva. He represents time and oversees the march of time in all galaxies and helps everyone to make use of time effectively. Kalabhairava manifest in eight different forms guarding eight directions and the abode of Lord Shiva. The lord teaches us the greatest truth that life is going to depend on how one relates to time.
—Purify your body and mind early in the morning
—Cleanse the space where the pooja has to be performed by sprinkling water mixed with cow dung.
—Sit on a clean seat to perform the ritual
—Arrange the puja items on a clean plate
—Sprinkle holy water on all items to purify them
—Place a photo or idol of kalabhairava, apply sandal and vermillion paste on the picture.
—Light a lamp with ghee, oil (mustard, sesame) and also light incense sticks.
—Offer specially prepared dishes to the lord by chanting the mantra ‘Om Bram Bhairavaay Namah’ with family.
Points to Note: Start the puja on a Saturday or Sunday and repeat for eight weeks consecutively and on the final day do an elaborate pooja at home.
Donate clothes, food and money to the needy on the concluding day and also feed dogs on the day. Visit a Kalabhairava temple to complete the process.
